When Thea mentioned issue 10 of sisterMAG would have a theme of “König, Dame, Bube” (king, queen, jack) with a beauty section in the queen section, my mind lit up with ideas for a beauty shoot. I recently moved into a new studio space and was itching for a chance to organize a shoot there. I had been dreaming of shooting a window-lit portrait series inspired by a exposition of photos from Desiree Dolton that I discovered way back in 2006 during Mois de la Photo in Paris. Thea and Lena came up with the idea of styling some hats with some beauty looks inspired by them with the lovely blogger twin sisters, Nisi and Desi, from teeth are jade. The girls are both absolutely STUNNING and photographing them for the beauty feature was so much fun. Here are a few of my favorites from our shoot, check out the new issue of sisterMAG to see the entire feature.
The latest issue of sisterMAG launched yesterday and it is packed with so much good stuff! Thea and fellow photographer and friend, Cris, traveled to France, documenting 24 hours in Nice and producing a fashion story featuring my dear friend Lindsey of Lost in Cheeseland. I got the chance to photograph a couple fun stories for the issue including a maternity fashion story we shot in Hamburg a few weeks ago. Our model was 8 months pregnant and now I completely understand the concept of the “glow” pregnant women have, she is absolutely gorgeous and such a natural in front of the camera. Walking behind her on the street, you wouldn’t even know she was pregnant until she turned around, seriously the girl is stunning. Jasmin, the lovely cover model of issue 8, is interning at sisterMAG for the summer and styled the shoot with pieces from “your boyfriend/husband’s closet” along with stunning pieces from Isabella Oliver which we non-pregnant girls were all wishing were in our closets. Here are a few of my favorite images from our shoot, and make sure to hop over to read the whole issue in German and English on the sisterMAG site. Stay tuned next week for more images from issue 9 of sisterMAG and posts from our travels this summer.
Things have been crazy busy finishing up wedding season, deciding to look for a new apartment here in Berlin (which is seriously a job in itself) and other client work (I photographed Angela Merkel and her campaign team on Monday- what?!?), but I really miss blogging here and will be back posting more regularly soon, I promise!
For the new issue of sisterMAG (which launched today!!), I got the chance to join the team for a weekend at the Baltic Sea. It was my first trip the the island of Rügen, and not only did I have the best time with the sisterMAG team, I fell hard for the charming beach town of Binz. I photographed the darling Jasmine for the 8th sisterMAG cover and it is definitely my favorite sisterMAG cover that I have photographed so far. Maybe part of that has to do with our beach shoot location (I love my job!), I also love the nautical style rope dress they designed for the cover and our gorgeous model. The boat on the beach was the perfect backdrop, but it funnily enough is right next to the border of the nude beach, which definitely made the shoot more interesting ;) Make sure to check out the entire issue online or download the app for your tablet or phone!
Cris shot the entire swimsuit fashion editorial in his teeny tiny shorts :) When in
Rome errrr… Rügen!

We ate dinner at Fischmarkt and came out of the restaurant to the most incredible sunset! Of course Cris and I grabbed our cameras and started shooting like crazy people. That is also when we had our Dawson’s Creek moment on the beach. If you plan on visiting Binz, make sure to read the travel guide that Cris photographed on page 234.
The new issue of sisterMAG launched today and I am so honored to have photographed the cover at the Berlin Botanical Garden. My friend and fellow sisterMAG photographer, Cristopher Santos, made a really fun behind the scenes video from the cover shoot, and I love it! Even though I always cringe a little seeing myself on film :-| Read the issue online in German or English, or my favorite way to read the online only magazine, on my ipad with the sisterMAG app.
I was so excited to see that the Postman had delivered the new issue of Cereal Mag today, and I was lucky to be asked to photograph two stories inside the magazine. Cereal Magazine is a beautiful new print magazine from the UK focused on food and travel, which just so happen to be two of my favorite things as well. :) The new issue has a wonderful Berlin travel section including not only the stories I photographed featuring R.S.V.P. and the city’s most popular street food, currywurst, but also two beautifully written and photographed stories about the Jewish Museum and the Bauhaus Archives (both are places I still need to visit- maybe this weekend we can go check them out, it is certainly perfect museum weather!). For Berlin friends, you can pick up a copy of Cereal Magazine at Do you read me? and for everywhere else, click here for a full list of stockists.
I will definitely be spending the long weekend enjoying the new issue as I am hoping to take a much needed break away from my computer. Do you have any big plans for the Easter holiday? Usually we get away for the long weekend, but this year we will be lying low, catching up on sleep and trying to not slip and break any bones on the icy streets. Please tell me some of you are going somewhere warm!
Check out some outtakes from the shoots for Cereal Mag here.
The Christmas issue of sisterMAG came out on Friday and I think it is their best issue to date! The issue’s theme is “Childhood Dreams” and reading all of the wintery stories really got me in the holiday spirit, helped by the fact that it definitely looks and feels like winter here in Germany now too. I was lucky to have been asked to shoot the issue’s festive cover and a feature (page 241) with my friend Brittany of The House That Lars Built in Copenhagen. Also check out our “Lover’s Guide Berlin” story (page 283). Here are a few of my favorites from our shoot with Brittany, and make sure to check out the entire issue in German and English.
A few months ago, I was contacted by the lovely people at Everplaces to create a video to celebrate the launch of the new and improved, non-beta version of their iphone app. I have to admit I was incredibly flattered that they had even watched the videos I had made and posted here on the blog, and I was honored that they wanted to hire me to make a video for them, especially as I am a huge fan of their site and app. Those of you who are regular readers will surely recognize some familiar faces, and as my friends are big fans of Everplaces (4 are Everplaces Ambassadors) they were perfect for the video. I had a lot of fun making it, and I am so excited to finally share it with you. If you haven’t already tried out Everplaces, download the latest version in the itunes store here, or visit their site, I promise you will love it.

When Thea and Toni told me they wanted me to photograph a story they were working on a shoot for Reverie Magazine, I might have done a little happy dance in my kitchen. The story is a lover’s guide to Berlin featured in the new fall issue of Reverie Magazine which launched yesterday and combines two of my favorite things: travel photography + engagement shoots. We shot the story with two fabulous couples here in Berlin and I have been so anxious to share the photos! For a guide to the glamorous and romantic side of Berlin, check out page 160 in Reverie and you can see lots more photos from the shoots on my weddings blog: www.ashleyludaescher.com.
Thank you again to Thea and Toni from sisterMAG for directing and organizing, Travis Jay Hazzard for your fabulous hair skills and our couples: Clara and Albert and Marlon and Mandy for taking part in our shoot!
The newest issue of sisterMAG is now live in both English and German! I was lucky to have shot both the English and German covers as well as the coat fashion editorial and some new press images of the lovely sisters. I had such a great time working on both features and I made a little video with their spoken editorial featuring some behind the scenes footage as well. Click for the English Version here and German Version here and my favorite way to read the magazine, on their very own iPad and iPhone app!
I just relaunched my weddings site and blog and am hosting a giveaway to celebrate! I am offering a free couples shoot to one lucky couple, hop over to Ashley Ludaescher Weddings to find out more and to enter!
